Let’s Move ~

How many of you know what kicks off the month of May?

President Obama proclaimed May 2016 as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. This proclamation dates back six decades to when Dwight Eisenhower was President and he established the President's Council on Youth Fitness, known today as the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.

This really is a call to action for all people to make daily physical activity a priority and part of your daily life. Regular physical activity is a good health practice for all ages.

It does not have to be a marathon, start with a commitment to yourself of getting out with your family and walking 30 minutes every day or taking a bike ride. Change it up, make it fun. If you live near a school, walk your children to school or ride bikes with them to school. May 4th is Youth Walk/Ride your Bike to school day and May 20th is Bike to Work Day.

Keep it going, the month of May kicks off this initiative, try to make it a priority every month. The benefits of moving and physical activity are good for your mind, body and spirit!
